Pryor Senior Men's Golf Association

Origin and History

In the summer of 1992, a small group of senior men golfers began playing a nine hole friendly competitive game late in the afternoon once a week. Interest in this competition began to grow and continued to grow until in May 1993,  the Senior Men's Golf Association was formed with eighteen members 55 years of age and older. A constitution, by-laws and rules were adopted and the first slate of officers was elected to serve a one year term.

The objective of the association is to promote the game of golf among senior players in an atmosphere of friendly and fun competition. The group meets for a full round of golf every Thursday morning.  Games vary from week to week and starting times change to accommodate time and weather changes.

Membership has continued to grow reaching a high of 59 in the 2001/2002 and currently stands at 48. In addition to Pryor and the surrounding area, we have members from Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Wagoner, Owasso, Claremore, Bixby, Langley and Disney . We invite all men age 55 and over who love the game of golf to come and join us. The only requirements are that you be 55 years of age or older and pay annual dues, which at the time are $25.00.

Highlights throughout the year are an occasional round of golf with the Women's Golf Association, an annual flighted championship tournament and an awards banquet with election of officers for the coming year.

For additional information contact any member of the association, the Pryor Golf Course Pro Shop at 825-3056, or just come on out any Thursday morning.  We play year round weather permitting.
